Description

The Dr. Alvin Ring Empowerment Scholarship for Laboratory Professionals, established through ASCP, aims to provide financial aid to those pursuing higher education in the medical laboratory sciences. This scholarship is looking for students from medically-underserved and/or rural areas, seeking to serve medically-underserved communities with their education. Additionally, candidates should be in good academic standing and/or show commitment to staying in the laboratory profession, as vouched for by academic or professional reference letters. Candidates must also fit one of the following categories: (1) Current high school students starting in a NAACLS-accredited program in Phlebotomy (PBT), Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), or Histotechnology (HTL) by August 31 2025. (2) Current laboratory science students in a NAACLS-accredited program in Phlebotomy (PBT), Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), or Histotechnology (HTL). (3) Currently an active student in a non-laboratory science field, but starting in a NAACLS-accredited program in Phlebotomy (PBT), Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), or Histotechnology (HTL) by August 31 2025. (4) Currently a working professional (not an active student), but starting in a NAACLS-accredited program in Phlebotomy (PBT), Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), or Histotechnology (HTL) by August 31 2025. Please note that Masters and Doctoral program applicants are not eligible for this opportunity. Applicants can be enrolled in or planning to attend any accredited college or university in the USA. Applicants can reside in any state within the USA. Students must have a faculty member from their college to submit the letter of recommendation. If the applicant is in the medical laboratory field, a director, manager, or supervisor can provide the recommendation on their behalf. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information.
