Description

The Garden Club of America Montine M. Freeman Scholarship in Native Plant Studies aims to encourage the understanding, development and use of underutilized native plants. The scholarship was established to encourage the development of research, documentation, and teaching skills in the field of horticulture. This scholarship is open to college undergraduates or graduate students, advanced degree candidates, or non-degree seeking students above the high school level. Research, studies, or projects may include, but are not restricted to, plant propagation, and the acquisition of skills for working with native plant collections, including techniques for incorporating them in managed landscapes. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation. One should include comments on the student's academic progress and achievement, personal qualities, and eligibility for the program they have selected.
