HEI Scholarship Program, with an application deadline in February, offers numerous awards that vary in amount. Location restrictions exist. Restricted to those with financial need.

Description

The HEI Companies have established a scholarship program through the Hawaiian Electric Industries Charitable Foundation to assist eligible dependents of HEI Company employees who plan to continue education in college. Scholarships are awarded to incoming first-year college students for a single year of study and may be renewed for up to three additional years, or until a bachelor's degree is earned, whichever occurs first, for study at an accredited four-year institution of the student's choice in the United States. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic merit, demonstrated leadership, participation in community service and extracurricular activities, and a personal statement of education and career goals and aspirations. Financial need is not considered. The donor requires applicants to be an eligible dependent (a natural or adopted dependent child, step-child, or fully dependent ward) of a current HEI Company employee who has a minimum of one year full-time employment at time of application deadline. Dependents of senior executives, Vice Presidents and above, of HEI Companies are not eligible to apply. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Hawai'i Community Foundation for more information.
