Description

The Hew-Shinn Scholarship Fund was established to honor A.K. Hew's parents, Hew Sing Cha and Shinn Ngun Moi. They raised eight children in Paia and Mr. & Mrs. Hew emphasized the importance of education for both their sons and daughters which was unusual among Chinese of their generation. The donor requires applicants to enroll in an accredited vocational degree or certificate program in Hawaii or the mainland. Preference is for recipients who were awarded in the immediate prior year if such recipient continues to meet the eligibility requirements and is in good academic standing for a second academic year.
