Description

The Mechanisms Specialty Section is pleased to offer the Gabriel L. Plaa Education Award to postdoctoral trainees. The applicant must be a postdoctoral trainee and a member of the SOT, pending status is acceptable. Mechanisms Specialty Section membership is not required. The applicant must have submitted an abstract for the 2026 SOT Annual Meeting. The applicant should be the primary author and contributor to the work described. The applicant must arrive at the SOT Annual Meeting by noon on Sunday to allow time for a selection committee interview. Applicants must submit a cover letter that includes a statement of the applicant's research interests, how their current research advances the field of mechanistic toxicology, and a clear statement of the applicant's contributions to education and/or mentoring in toxicology. Two letters of recommendation are also required, one letter must be from the postdoctoral advisor and must verify that the work reported in the abstract was performed during postdoctoral training.
