NPA Foundation High School Journalism Scholarship, with an application deadline in January, offers numerous awards of $2000 each.

Description

The NPA Foundation High School Journalism Scholarship is for current high school students who want to be Journalism Or Ag Communications students. Those eligible to apply are upcoming 2025 Nebraska high school graduates who are now seeking to enroll in colleges and universities. The recipient must use the scholarship and enroll no later than the start of the third semester after the awarding of the scholarship.The scholarships will be given to students with a specific interest in news, editorial, sports, photography, circulation, production/design or marketing/advertising careers at a weekly, semi-weekly, or daily newspaper. The educational institution involved must offer a curriculum which provides the necessary education so a student graduating from the program is qualified for at least an entry level position in community-based journalism or ag communications. A letter of reference from the applicant's community newspaper publisher or editor may accompany the application, but this is not a requirement in order to be considered. A statement from a high-school administrator, guidance counselor, or college counselor is required and a letter of reference from an unrelated party (employer, clergy, coach, etc.) is also required. If available, students may submit no more than three samples of Community Print Journalism or Ag Communications product, work or writing.
