Eligibility

NTSS Toshio Narahashi Neurotoxicology SS Trainee Conference Endowment Award, with an application deadline in November, offers numerous awards of $250 each.

Description

The NTSS Toshio Narahashi Neurotoxicology SS Trainee Conference Endowment Award will be given to deserving trainees to cover registrations and other associated costs. The goal is to support the attendance of meritorious trainees in Neurotoxicology to the SOT Annual Meeting. Scientific merit and support from the trainee's mentor will be key criteria used in the decision process. The application form contains two components: Part A and Part B. Part A is completed by the Trainee to be sent in as a single PDF file to Kristen Ryan with the following components: the application form Part A; the abstract submitted to SOT; proof of abstract acceptance; and the Trainee's CV. Applicant information, position, scientific/academic merit, past experience, and a statement of need/supporting information must also be included in Part A of the application. Part B is the support letter, which must be completed by the mentor and sent in separately to Kristen Ryan. The support letter must contain the mentor's name, institutional affiliation and email; and the trainee's name, position and length of time in this position. It must also include an evaluation of the trainee's qualifications for the award in terms of research quality, academic merit, and existing financial barriers to travel. Mentors must also include a specific statement on why this trainee should receive this award and how they will benefit from attendance at the annual SOT meeting. How many members of the research team and what percentage of the team will be attending the annual SOT meeting? Mentors must also answer "If this trainee wins this award, do you commit to providing support for the trainee to ensure attendance at the annual SOT meeting?" Please visit the award's website or contact the Society of Toxicology for more information.
