TMC/SAE Donald D. Dawson Technical Scholarship, with an application deadline in February, offers numerous awards that vary in amount.

Description

SAE and The Maintenance Council of American Trucking Associations have established this technical education scholarship to honor the leadership of Donald D. Dawson. This scholarship is intended to encourage the ideal of Dawson's respected technical competence in transport management. The TMC/SAE Donald D. Dawson Technical Scholarship will be awarded to a college freshman who will pursue an engineering or related science degree through a U.S. ABET-accredited program. Applicants must submit two Letters of Recommendation, one that focuses on academics and one that speaks to the applicant's involvement in extra-curricular activities or employment. Applicants are required to demonstrate evidence of some type of hands-on automotive experience or activity in areas such as rebuilding engines, working on cars or trucks, tractor repair or working with drones (UAV Challenge, for example), robotics (FIRST, VEX) and coding.
