The Carol T. Berner Women in STEM Scholarship Fund aims to encourage women in Missouri to be active and succeed in science, technology, engineering, and math. Applicants may be high school seniors or college students, pursuing a degree in any science major, technology, engineering or math. Students are able to reapply each year. The Electronics Division invites applications for the Lewis C. Hoffman Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage academic interest and excellence among undergraduate students in the area of ceramics/materials science and engineering. The winner will be selected based on their Total GPA, Science GPA (to be verified in faculty recommendation letter); PSAT, SAT, or ACT scores, if available; a recommendation letter from a faculty member in the department; extracurricular activities; and an essay. If AI (such as Chatgpt, Gemini, etc) has been used in this award thesis writing, the author should address how it has been used. The Merle Earnshaw Memorial Scholarship assists qualified degree seeking students who intend to work with children in a public library setting. The scholarship is named for, and was made possible by, long-time Phoenix Public Library employee, Merle Earnshaw. Applicants must be a current employee of Phoenix Public Library and attending an American Library Association accredited Master's Program. The Dean's Scholarship School of Education & Science is open to students who have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Applicants need to present themselves well, be socially adept, have the ability to work well with others, and have a heart for serving others in their everyday lives. The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Arizona will accept applications for assistance to students pursuing a career in Health Care Occupations. The applicant must be enrolled or enrolling in an accredited, tax-supported institution in Arizona which offers a certificate or degree program in Health Care Occupations; such as Nurses Assistant, Dental Assistant, L.P.N., Lab Technician, Physical Therapist, Inhalation therapist, etc. Applicants must be a resident of Arizona for at least one year. The immediate family member of a Veteran will be given first consideration. Three letters of reference from persons who can testify to the applicant's character, study and work habits must be submitted. They may be from the applicant's high school principal, instructors, counselor, clergyman, or employer. The Wilma Hoyal-Maxine Chilton Memorial Scholarships will be awarded to a student at eligible universities in Arizona enrolled as a second year or upper division student in Political Science, Public Programs or Special Education. Applicants must be a resident of Arizona for at least one year. Honorably discharged veterans or immediate family members of a veteran will be given preference. Applicants must complete at least 12 hours with a grade average of "B" or better. Three letters of reference from persons who can testify to the applicant's character, aptitude, initiative, and need must be submitted. They may be from the applicant's instructors, counselor, financial aid director, clergyman or employer. Former recipient continuing degree programs as listed above may re-apply provided the applicant complies with rules, submitting new application data. The Inspira Advantage Medical Education and Diversity Scholarship winner receives five hours of medical school admissions guidance or tutoring support. To apply for the scholarship, all applicants must complete these steps: (1) Follow Inspira Education on social media (YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram). (2) Create a two-minute video of themselves answering the following questions: (A) Why do you want to become a physician? (B) How do you plan to make a difference in your community/region/world by becoming a physician? (C) How will the Inspira Advantage MED Scholarship help you achieve your goals? (3) Write an essay sharing details about their unique identity. The video and written essay carry equal weight in the selection process. The video is judged based on the substance and quality of the applicant's responses. Essays are evaluated based on content, writing style, and flow. The number of likes, reshares, and comments the applicant's video will be considered. Sharing on more platforms is beneficial. The winner will be selected based on whose video demonstrates the most compelling reason for how the MED Scholarship will help them realize their goals and the thoughtfulness of how they plan to make an impact in their communities/the world; winners will also be selected based on the narrative quality of their essay. The Susan Anderson Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving individual pursuing the Masters of Information Studies at the University of Ottawa, the Masters of Information at the University of Toronto, or the Masters of Library and Information Science at Western University. Award of the scholarship will be based on volunteerism, academic achievement, goals and personal qualities. References direct from two referees, describing the candidate's activities and time commitment, must be submitted. One letter should focus on the applicant's volunteerism and community service and the second email letter should focus on work experience. The Kevin Laverty Award for Excellence in Comparative Politics is open to one or more deserving undergraduate students in the Department of Political Science. Preference will be given to undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need and taking coursework in comparative politics. Students must be in residence at UCSB for the following academic year. If more than one award is given, the $2,300 award will be split between the applicants.
