The Douglas Haskell Award for Student Journals was founded to encourage student journalism on architecture, planning, and related subjects, and to foster regard for intelligent criticism among future professionals. The award is not intended as a prize for individuals, but to support the ongoing publication of student-edited journals whose subject matter could include architectural design, history, and theory. The Douglas Haskell Award for Student Journals is open to student-edited architectural journals nationwide. Any journal (online or print) published by a school of architecture, landscape architecture, or planning in the United States that is edited by students is eligible. The publication must have been produced in the current or previous school year. Applicants are required to submit a journal that may focus on architecture, planning, or related subjects. The publication's subject matter may include architectural design, history, and theory. Since 2015, ChapmanAlbin has sponsored a yearly scholarship for incoming and current law students. Applicants must be a law student planning on attending, accepted to attend, or currently attending an accredited law school in the U.S. Applicants may not be current or past employees of ChapmanAlbin or be directly related to a current employee. To apply, the student must write a 200-300 word essay on a specific topic and meet a few other criteria for consideration. Applicants must also submit an acceptance letter from an accredited law school in the U.S. (new students) or an unofficial transcript from an accredited law school in the U.S. (current students). The Father James B. Macelwane Annual Award was established to stimulate interest in meteorology among college students through the submission of original student papers concerned with some phase of the atmospheric sciences. The student must be enrolled as an undergraduate at the time the paper is written, and no more than two students from any one institution may enter papers in any one contest. The Society encourages applications from women, minorities, and disabled students, traditionally underrepresented in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. The following must be submitted: a letter of application from the author, including mailing address and email, stating the title of the paper and the name of the university at which the paper was written; a letter from the department head or other faculty member of the department, confirming that the author was an undergraduate student at the time the paper was written, and indicating the elements of the paper that represent original contributions by the student; and the Student Assessment form completed by the department head or other faculty member of the department. The HD Human Biology Project supports research that advances our understanding of Huntington's Disease as it occurs in people, through the use of patient samples, clinical data, and collaborations with HD clinics. HDSA encourages researchers to collaborate with one of its Centers of Excellence, but applicants may work with any HD clinic or research site worldwide. Projects should prioritize the use of clinical samples or data from HD patients and aim to generate findings that inform therapeutic development or improve patient care. We encourage applications that translate findings from HD models to human samples; develop or validate clinically meaningful biomarkers; explore novel therapeutic targets in human biological contexts; use or establish collaborations with HD clinics or Centers of Excellence; and apply emerging technologies (e.g., single-cell sequencing, wearables) to HD patient data. Applications should demonstrate a clear path toward improving our biological understanding of HD in people and/or advancing therapies or care. Those who may apply are researchers from academic, clinical, nonprofit, and for-profit institutions worldwide; investigators from all disciplines, including but not limited to neuroscience, genetics, data science, rehabilitation, engineering, and psychology; and early-career investigators and HD newcomers are especially encouraged. Preference given to early-career postdoctoral and clinical investigators (PhD and/or MD). Projects must involve human samples or data. iPSC-based studies must be clearly linked to human clinical relevance. Applicants must have, or establish, a collaboration with an HD clinical site. Mentored applications must include a letter of support from the mentor, who must have a PhD and/or MD/DO degree and have a primary appointment at academic, public or private research institutions. The Potato Leadership, Education, and Advancement Foundation (Potato LEAF) will award an academic scholarship to a graduate-level student conducting research benefiting the potato industry. Eligible applicants must hold a bachelor's degree and are completing either a master's or doctoral degree. Research focus may include basic research or applied research that improves potato production efficiency, addresses pest management and disease issues, increases consumer benefits from potato consumption and or produces knowledge related to advancing the competitiveness of the U.S. potato industry. Final scholarship selection is based on the following criteria: past academic achievement, leadership abilities, potato-related areas of graduate study, goals, benefit to the potato industry, extracurricular activities, grades, and potential commercial value. Applicants must provide the names and contact information for two references appropriate to the applicant's research and outreach activities. This scholarship is for Maine's nontraditional students who want to change their life for the better through education and training. The scholarship supports a range of training, including attending two- and four-year colleges and universities, completing a certificate and other non-degree programs, or attempting a self-directed learning experience with a clear goal. The Maine Community Foundation, Inc. Long-term Scholarship Award will last more than a full semester. At the end of the program the applicant will have a one- or two-year certificate or a two- or four-year degree. Graduate study is not supported by this scholarship. Deadlines are June 15 and November 15. Beginning in 2024, recipients may apply for renewal for a maximum of 5 years or 10 semesters of scholarship support. Current recipients who have already reached this maximum will be offered a grace period of one year (up to two semesters). The Dixie Belle Paint Company Scholarship contest is open to students who must be attending college or grad school by Fall 2025. One grand winner will be awarded $1250 and the other two winners will receive $750 each. Current employees, officers, directors and agents of Sponsor and its related companies and members of their immediate families (defined as spouse, parents, siblings and children) and persons residing at the same address are not eligible to win. The sponsor is looking for eligible finalists who follow directions and submit applications that are well-written and clearly and creatively address the topic. Answers will be evaluated in the following proportions: writing ability, creativity, originality, and overall excellence. The WLA Library Education Scholarship is available to librarians who are admitted to a master's degree program in library and information science or in library media at a Wisconsin school during the coming academic year beginning with the fall term. Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of experience and background in library and library-related work; career plans in the library profession; need and desire for the scholarship; and past academic performance. The Doctors Network Coast Guard Scholarship will be awarded to any active or former member of the United States Coast Guard or any student attending or planning to attend an accredited four-year or two-year college in the United States with at least one parent or spouse who is an active or former member of the United States Coast Guard. Multiple awards are available. Any senior high school student planning on attending college right after high school and any student in an accredited four-year, two-year, nursing, dental, or medical school in the United States who will still be a student for the applicable periods of the award may apply. The Golden Key Humanitarian/Service Response Award is open to Golden Key members with commitment to a service. Applicants must submit a video on social media and include relevant hashtags (YesGKScholarships, YesGKService, and GKFunding). Applicants must also submit a letter of recommendation from a project leader (excluded GK official). The video must capture the essence of the service project. Applicants must also include in the video also an elevator pitch to the applicant's stakeholders; their personal story, the timeline and also focus on all three GK pillars; and describe the impact GK made on their life journey.
