.The MHEC Graduate and Professional Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to degree-seeking graduate and professional students. Applicants must be enrolled in programs in dentistry, law, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, social work, and veterinary medicine. They must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student in one of the following schools: University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Law, Pharmacy, or Social Work; University of Baltimore School of Law; The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine; The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, or certain Maryland institutions offering a master's degree in nursing or social work or a first professional degree in pharmacy. The scholarship may be received for eight semesters. To apply, applicants must complete and file the FAFSA; then contact the financial aid office of the institution they will attend and ask to be considered for a Graduate and Professional Scholarship. The Alice Becker Hinchcliffe Williams Endowed Scholarship provides assistance for a student enrolled in the Dental Hygiene Program. Priority is given to those demonstrating financial need. Applicants must provide the names and email addresses of three persons willing to provide recommendations for them. At least one recommendation must be a Virginia Western instructor, if the applicant is enrolled at the college. If recently attending or graduated from high school, applicants may use a high school teacher(s) to provide recommendations. The Heather Samuel Memorial Scholarship is available to students who have successfully completed 2 semesters of the Dental Hygiene Program, have a GPA of 3.0 or better. This student will have evaluations and a review of work that demonstrates professionalism and success in the program. This scholarship will be chosen at the discretion of the Dental Hygiene Director and Faculty. The JCCC Scholarship Application and FAFSA are required. The AvaCare Medical Scholarship recognizes those who are working to better the lives of our customers, students who are pursuing a degree in the medical field, with a prize toward college tuition. This scholarship is awarded annually to one submission that tells about an inspiring act of kindness. Applicants must be a citizen of the United States or in possession of an Alien Registration Card. They must be a high school senior or enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in the medical field such as therapy, nursing, medicine, nutrition, laboratory science, dentistry, health law, etc. Although all students with the above criteria are welcome to apply for this scholarship, preference will be given to students with a physical disability. The Medical Amateur Radio Council (MARCO) Scholarship will be awarded to those with active Technician Class License or higher. Applicants may be residents of any region. Applicants must be pursuing a field of study which must be leading to a career in the healing arts, including, but not necessarily leading to Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, EMT, or Radiology technician. Preference will be given to undergraduate students and those in certificate programs, but graduate students may apply. Applicants must submit transcripts which must cover the applicant's entire high school career to date and, if in college, must include all semesters for which grades have been awarded. The Westerhoff Dental Assisting Scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in the Dental Assisting Program with the intention to work in the field of dentistry and live in District 509. This scholarship is not available to international students. Applicants must provide the contact information for the person they've asked to write a Letter of Support on their behalf. The letter may be from anyone who is willing to write a positive statement about their academic and/or personal qualities and their likelihood for future success. The IADR PRG SUNSTAR Foundation Award aims to support research within the field of dental/oral artificial intelligence. The award will be conferred on an annual basis for a 5-year duration and in a competitive way, based on an application for a research project on artificial intelligence in the field of periodontology. Applicants must be a current member of IADR-PRG. They must be a PhD or Masters' student (in the final year of the program at the time of award) or post-doctoral scientist (within 24-months of successful completion of a PhD at the time of the submission deadline) in an academic institution. They may also be at an academic rank below associate professor or equivalent. Applicants must submit a research protocol that must include the following: an abstract; a brief but concise background to the proposed research project, clearly stating the significance of problem, and the innovation of the proposed studies; clear aims and objectives; concise description of the methods, including sample size/power estimates, and statistics; and estimated budget allocation. Applicants must also submit a letter of recommendation from their Department Head or Dean including a statement that the applicant will be allocated designated time for execution of the proposed study. They must also submit a letter of agreement from any proposed collaborator/s, clearly stating that the equipment and resources needed for the specific project will be provided. Marquette has a long history of preparing undergraduates for professional school. To better serve some of our students interested in dentistry, Marquette has developed the Pre-dental Scholars Program, an accelerated program for students to receive the benefits of a liberal arts education while enjoying conditional acceptance to Marquette's School of Dentistry. Pre-dental Scholars complete bachelor's and dental degrees in seven years rather than the eight years normally required. This scholarship is available to students whose high school rank is in the top 25 percent. Students must have a minimum SAT combined score of 1280 or a minimum ACT composite score of 27 (with individual scores above 24). Applicants applying under the test-optional policy are eligible to apply and will be given equal consideration. The average cumulative unweighted high school GPA for semi-finalists was 3.95. The IHS Pre-Graduate Scholarship provides financial aid to qualified American Indian and Alaska Native undergraduate students. Recipients must be members or descendants of federally recognized, state-recognized or terminated Tribes enrolled in courses leading to a bachelor's degree in pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-nursing and other subjects needed by the Indian health programs. The scholarship recipient will receive financial support for up to four years of academic work. Members of federally-recognized or state-recognized American Indian Tribes or Alaska Native villages must submit the Form BIA-4432. Descendants of federal or state-recognized Tribal members must submit a copy of their birth certificate; the birth or death certificate of their parent or grandparent who is an enrolled member of the Tribe with which they are establishing descendant status; and evidence of either a parent's or grandparent's Tribal membership in accordance with the scholarship criteria. Applicants must clearly document their relationship to the Tribal member. In addition to submitting the online application form, students must submit their official transcripts and employer or faculty evaluations. Selected applicants in each degree program will be reviewed for a potential award offer. Selected applicants will be notified to submit the following additional documents to complete the selection process within 30 days upon notification: Letter of Acceptance, Documentation of American Indian Tribal or Alaska Native Village Membership, Curriculum for Major or Degree Plan of Study, Declaration of Federal Employment-OMB Form 3206-0162, and Addendum of 306 Form-OMB Form 0917-0028.
