The Nurses Care Specialty License Plate Initiative was created in 2002 to provide an opportunity for nurses and the supporters of nursing to make a contribution to the profession and to increase the public's awareness of the contribution of nurses. The Nurses Care Graduate Nurse Scholarship will be awarded to students currently enrolled in a graduate nursing program pursuing a Master's or doctoral degree. Applicants must be in good academic standing as verified by an unofficial transcript that designates the cumulative GPA. The Nurses Care Undergraduate Nurse Scholarship will be awarded to students currently enrolled in an undergraduate registered nurse program in South Carolina. Applicants must be in good academic standing as verified by an unofficial transcript with evidence of a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Students must have completed and passed at least one nursing course (course evident on transcript). Students must intend to seek employment in South Carolina upon graduation. Marsha's Angels is a scholarship fund honoring the memory of Marsha Yarnell and her more than 30 years of nursing. For her last 22 years, Marsha was a labor and delivery nurse in Wichita, Kansas. She was an inspiration to family, friends and co-workers. Successful scholarship applicants will demonstrate the desire to share Marsha's love for helping others and for quality patient care. Qualified students will have completed all prerequisites and be ready to enter the first year of an accredited two-year nursing program (RN). Students in a four-year BSN program will have completed the first two years of general studies and pre-requisites and be ready for the final two years of nurse's training (RN). A student who will be taking part in a qualified program in the fall of 2025 may submit an application as soon as acceptance to that program has been established. Applicants eligible for the 2025 scholarship will be graduating in the spring of 2027. Applicants living in Sedgwick County, Kansas or one of the surrounding counties may use the scholarship to attend an accredited nursing program anywhere in the United States. Those living elsewhere in the United States may use the scholarship to attend an accredited nursing program in Sedgwick County, Kansas or one of the surrounding counties or St. Luke's College of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri, Marsha's alma mater. MNF and The Gulf Coast Community Foundation will award a scholarship to an APRN student on behalf of the Eileen S. and Earl C. Whittemore, Jr Fund. The applicant must be a member of the Mississippi Nurses' Association. Applicants must hold a current, unrestricted Mississippi RN license. They must submit a letter from school verifying acceptance or enrollment in an accredited nurse practitioner program. Applicants must also submit two professional letters of reference. Payments shall be made in two equal disbursements for the Fall and Spring semesters for the 2025-2026 academic year, as long as the recipient maintains eligibility. The MNF PhD Research Grants is open to applicants who must be currently enrolled and in good standing in a PhD Nursing program and must be a member of the Mississippi Nurses Association (MNA). Stipends are made available to nursing students and nurses pursuing a degree in nursing in the state of Mississippi through the Nurses Car Tag Program. Applicants may be a full-time nursing student enrolled in an accredited Associate or Baccalaureate Nursing Program or an RN enrolled in a part-time or full-time accredited Master's or Doctoral Nursing Program. They must have a "Nurses Touch Lives" license plate on their personal vehicle at the time of application, and maintain it during receipt of funding. They must also execute an agreement with the Mississippi Nurses Foundation to be employed full-time as a nurse in Mississippi within the first two years following completion of the program. The goal of the Joel and Dena Gambord Nursing Scholarship is to attract and support high caliber nursing students who choose to complete their advanced nursing studies in the RN to BSN program at CSU Monterey Bay. In so doing, this merit-based program will provide CSU Monterey Bay and the College of Health Sciences and Human Services with the opportunity to ensure the development of high-quality nursing expertise in the region. The Scholarship fund provides financial support to eligible students for tuition assistance in the nursing program. Scholarship finalists are selected on the basis of academic performance, financial need, demonstrated leadership and participation in community service in the healthcare field, work experience, passing an open book civics test, and a statement of career and educational goals and objectives. Applicants must hold an active unrestricted CA RN license at the time of application. Priority consideration will be given to working RN's who want to receive their BSN. In lieu of a GPA, working RNs will need to submit two letters of recommendation, preferably healthcare related. Applicants must have prior practical healthcare and/or community service in the healthcare field. Applicants must complete and pass an open-book U.S. civics test.
