Nursing scholarships: Find free money today

The Health Resources and Services Administration is offering the Nurse Corps Scholarship Program, which provides support to nursing students in exchange for a minimum two-year, full-time service commitment (or part-time equivalent) at an eligible health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses. Students must be accepted or enrolled at an accredited school of nursing located in the United States or territory, and be pursuing a nursing degree or certificate program. Types of eligible nursing programs include: Diploma in Nursing; Associate degree in Nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Graduate-level nurse practitioners; Graduate-level registered nurse and advanced practice registered nurse; and Bridge Nursing Graduate-level. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen (either U.S. born or naturalized), U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident. They must provide acceptable documentation of their status. Funding preference is given to applicants with the greatest financial need. Applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation, one academic and one non-academic. If the applicant is currently enrolled in the nursing program, the academic recommendation letter should be from the department chair, faculty advisor, or a faculty member of that academic program who can attest to the applicant's qualifications. If the applicant has not begun the training associated with the scholarship, the signed letter should be from the department chair, faculty advisor, or a faculty member of the applicant's most recent academic program. The non-academic recommendation letter should be from an individual who is familiar with the applicant's professional, community, and/or civic activities, especially those related to underserved communities and, if applicable, federal pipeline program experience. The recommender can be an employer or previous employer, community leader, colleague, or anyone who has knowledge of the applicant's interest and motivation to provide care to underserved communities. The Griffin Utility Club ASN Tuition, Textbook, and Toolbox Scholarship is available to a female nursing student who is a Spalding County resident. If awarded, $250 of the funds will be applied to tuition, and $250 will be applied to the bookstore for course-required textbooks and/or tools. The Inger Lawrence - M.R. Bauer Foundation Nursing Studies Scholarship will be awarded to students who must be enrolled in, or accepted to, a degree program in the Greater Los Angeles area and/or University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Some units toward the degree are preferred, but not required. Two letters of recommendation are required. One must be academic, and the second may be academic or professional. Stan and Darlene Sorenson established the Stan and Darlene Sorenson Scholarship in 2018 with the purpose of providing scholarships to Ilwaco High School students who show academic or vocational potential and due to their economic circumstances are not able to pay their total college costs from personal or family resources. Applicants must be a graduating senior of Iwaco High School in Ilwaco, Washington, who plans to register or be currently registered at an accredited college, university, technical or career school. They must pursue a degree in Nursing or a technical, career degree or certificate. Renewal applicants will have special consideration or priority. The Mary Long Nursing Scholarship is open to Honors College students who are in good standing and demonstrate financial need. This scholarship is open to Nursing majors. Preference is given to those from an underrepresented background. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information.

The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Ohio Past President's Parley Nurse's Scholarship is a program to assist students pursuing a degree in the nursing field. The applicant must be an honorably discharged veteran or a spouse, son, or daughter (adopted, step, grand, or great-grand) of a living, deceased, or disabled honorably discharged veteran who served during these active war dates: (1) April 6, 1917 - Nov. 11, 1918; and (2) Dec. 7, 1941 - current. Applicants must attach to their application a photocopy of the veteran's Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (Form DD-214) or other government document showing time served on active military duty during the eligibility period(s) indicated. The applicant must be sponsored by an Ohio American Legion Auxiliary Unit. The scholarship may be used at the nursing school of the student's choice. Three letters of recommendation must be submitted. They must be from: (1) A member of the clergy or a representative to attest to devotional beliefs; (2) A representative of the community; and (3) The applicant stating their financial need and why they feel they are deserving of this scholarship. The completed application must be returned to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit by April 15, 2025. The Unit President must sign the application and forward it by May 1, 2025, with all supporting documents, to the Department Past Presidents Parley Chairman. The Adam Paul Devore Memorial Scholarship Endowment is open to a student enrolled in the Drug and Alcohol or Human Services degree program or the post-graduate Drug and Alcohol certificate program at the Wilmington Campus. Students can also be enrolled in the Associate Degree Nursing program and the Bachelor of Science Nursing program. The department chair shall recommend qualified students to the Financial Aid Department. The Second Year Nursing Scholarship will be awarded annually to not less than a second year student nurse who is enrolled in an accredited institution awarding a degree as a Registered Nurse. The immediate family members of a Veteran will be given first preference. Applicants must be a resident of Arizona for at least one year. Applicants must be enrolled in a second year or advanced nursing program as an upper division student and carry the required hours of work with a grade average of "C" or better. Former recipients continuing degree program in nursing (R.N., B.A., M.A.) shall be given first consideration provided the applicant complies with aforementioned rules. Three letters of reference from persons who can testify to the applicant's character, study and work habits are required. They may be from the applicant's instructors, scholarship or financial aid director, standards committee, counselor, clergyman, or employer. The Bolyard Family Nursing Scholarship supports second year nursing and BSN students at Wenatchee Valley College who demonstrate compassionate, caring, hard work and who are committed to becoming a nurse. The committee seeks to award students who demonstrate high moral character, and have a financial need.
